MONTHLY REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES The usual monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin branch was held on Friday. Present:—Lady Sidey (in the chair), Lady Allen, Mesdames .1. M. Gallaway, Sandford Cox, Taverner, A. H. Allen, Mandeno, A. Begg, W. Wilson, J. B. Dawson, Maurice Myers, F. E. Olapperton, jun., N. Speight, D. Solomon, jun., Williams, Cairney, D. Reid, Cleghorn, and Watson, and Miss N. Reid. In connection with the annual Daffodil Day street sale and collection, which this year is being; held on Friday, October 2, Mrs J. Williams (convener) reported that donations of spring flowers had been promised from private gardens at Lawrence and from Sir Heaton Rhodes’s beautiful garden at Otahuna, Tai Tapu, also from numerous local gardens. Badges had been distributed amongst tho various stallholders and everything was well under way for the sale. Stalls were allotted as follow: — Princes street (opposite Brown, Ewing, and Co.); Alesciames D. Reid, Solomon, Thos. Brown, and Clapperton, jun. Bank of New Zealand corner; Mesdames J. M. Gallaway, G. It. Ritchie, Arthur Barnett, Maurice .Myers, and Alias Downie \Stewart. City Hotel: Mesdames Cleghorn, John Watson, Cunningharne, and D. Reid. Corner Princtd ami Dowling streets (A.AI.P. Buildings) : Alesdames A. Begg, Taverner, ,J. AI. Paterson, and Stanley Paris. H.B. Corner: Lady Allen, Alesdames J. Williams and Cairney. Moray Place; Alesdames Sandford Cox, Alandeno, J. B. Dawson,- 1 Gil'lon, and Lynsday Allan. Visiting Committees to the Truby King Harris Hospital were arranged as follow:—Wednesday, September 30, at 2.30 p.m., Alesdames D. lleid and A. Begg; Thursday, October 15, at 11 a.m., Airs Sandford Cox and Miss N. Reid. The following report of the matron, of the Truby King Harris Hospital for the month of August was read and received Patients admitted, mothers ,20, babies 32; patients discharged, mothers 18, babies 27 ; largest number 1 in residence on any one day, mothers (5, babies 25. Patients were admitted from the following districts: —Pembroke, Lawrence, Waitahuna, Balclutha, Owaka, Oamaru, Pareora, and from Dunedin and suburbs. Visitors' for the month numbered 460. Country girls some 80 in number, visited the hospital on August 27,' when short addresses wore given by myself and the sister tutor. A demonstration was given by tho Karitane nurses ' and afternoon tea was served to all by the homo sister. The three Karitane nurses 1 who sat for an examination in July passed 1 . Tho following summary .of the work of tho Plnnkot imr.-ios fur Dunedin and out-citations for the month of August was read and received; —Number of babies on the list 1,611; older children on the list, 683; new cases (babies only), 86; babies breast-fed (including partly), new cases, 83; visits paid to homes, 1,274; visits paid to Blanket Rooms, mothers 1,861, babies 1,633; older children, 310; out-stations visited—Alosgiel, Abbotsford, Green Island l , Burnside, Outram, Palmerston, Waikouaiti, Dunhack A'TiddUm’arnh, Port Chalmers, St. Leonards, Alaia, and llarensbourne. i
