WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR TO FINE The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton. Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— An anti-cyclone is now approaching across the Tasman Sea with its centre over the northern portion. Forecast; Light to moderate south-westerly winds, veering to west and north-west. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures cold, with frosts inland. Seas moderate, but rising later about Foveanx Strait. 1 FINE AND SUNNY. Accompanied by a sudden change in the direction of the wind from a strong northerly to an extremely boisterous south-westerly, at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon ram commenced to fall intermittently, and continued until late in the evening. This morning broke fine and with some sunshine, the high, wind having fallen to a light southerly. Temperatures until 12.30 p.m. to-day were 53.5 deg maximum and 46deg minii mum, as compared with corresponding readings at 54deg and 47deg at. the same time yesterday; for a 24-hour period yesterday the registrations were 56deg and 40deg respectively. The rainfall last evening totalled .02in, there being no frost. Barometric pressure at noon was steady at 29.8 in, and the indications were for a fine and sunny afternoon.
