Mass Meeting. —Some people wonder what the Mormon wedding ceremony is like. It’s something like this: . Preacher (to groohi):, “Do you take these women to be your lawfully wedded wives?” Groom: “I do.” , Preacher (to brides);’“Do you take this man to ,be your lawfully wedded husband?” ■ Brides: “We do;” Preacher: “ Some of you girls at the back will have to speak- louder if you want to be included in this.” * • , * *' Feeling the Way,— The specialist assumed an air of extreme gravity as he addressed his patient. “ This,” said he, “is very bad, 1 am afraid. : Could you, I wonder, pay for an operation if I ordered you to have one?” The patient smiled sadly. “ Would you order one if I. couldn’t?” be asked. •*» - • New Deal for Biddiecombe.—The battered, mud-bespattered, broken-down old buggy groaned its stertorous way up the steep hill—a hill fit for a smooth, silent, sighing Rolls or the like to slide over, but not for this relic of the past. Patient little pink-nosed, bespectacled Biddiecombe sat at the wheel witli an apologetic look on his face. Tbev were almost at the crest of the bill. A look of consternation spread over the driver’s face as he saw a tollhouse at the side of the road, at the very top of the hill. As the car asthmatised its flagging. way the last few yards an official stepped oiit of the tollhouse and stopped the car with a look. “Three and six for the ear,” said he curtly. ' The little man groped his,way out of the ancient cockpit, the cares of the world fallen from him. “ Done,” he said. 1
