ARTILLERY BAND
There will be a scene of considerable activity in the Botanical Gardens tomorrow afternoon, when a programme of outstanding, merit will be supplied by the Artillery Band (Southern Command). The band, under the conductorship of Lieutenant A. W. E. Webb, is rapidly becoming a polished and talented musical combination, and is now at full strength. Music lovers are promised a feast of entertainment* as the programme is of exceptionally high order and is composed entirely of new numbers, well-known items such as * In the Sudan,’ * Amparito Roca,’ ‘ Light Cavalry ’ march, ‘ Deep Harmony Hymn, and catchy tunes from the , recent motion picture, * The Musio Goes Round and Round,’ are a few of the numbers included in the varied programme. The band has now settled down to practice in earnest on the test selection for the Gore contest to be held in November next. The collection front this concert is to assist the Gore contest fund, and it is hoped that the public will readily respond.
