AWATEA AT AUCKLAND
TRIBUTE TO COMPANY'S ENTERPRISE [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 18. At a largely attended luncheon aboard the Awatea, tendered by the directors of the Union Company, the mayor (Mr Davis) paid tribute to the enterprise of the company. He said the Awatea’s entry into the transtasman run should result in such development of traffic as would encourage the company to build a sister ship. On behalf of the citizens he presented Captain Davey with a handsome Maori carving as an emblem of goodwill. Other speakers enthusiastically congratulated the company on its great enterprise.
