FIRST PROSECUTIONS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 17. Stated by Mr A. R. Cooper, for the city council, to be the first prosecution under the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Patrick Joseph Boyle was charged before Mr R. Ferner, S.M., with exceeding a speed of 30 miles per hour on the Hutt road. Mr Cooper said that the Act imposed a limit of 30 miles an hour in boroughs. A penalty of 10s and costs was imposed, the magistrate saying that the case would serve as a warning. Three other offenders were similarly punished.
