ANOTHER HIT AND RUN CASE? [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 16. " If the third driver heard a crash or scream he is nothing more than a ‘ hit and run ’ driver, the class we are doing our utmost to suppress,” remarked the coroner, Mr E, Gilbertson, at the conclusion of the inquest into the death of Mrs Elizabeth Ann Fargher, aged 67, who died in Wellington Hospital as the result of being knocked over by a car driven by Weldon Edgar Francis Jeffries. Jeffries, in evidence, said ho was driving up Kent Terrace when a second car stopped to give him way at a street intersection, but a third car swung out at this intersection behind the other car, causing him to swerve and strike the deceased and her granddaughter, who were crossing Kent Terrace. The ether car did not stop. At this stage the witness fainted, but revived and was able to continue his evidence. . Another witness said the accident was caused by the third oar not giving way. A formal verdict was returned that the deceased died as the result of injuries suffered when she was knocked over by a ,car.
