RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS
SEAMAN DEPURTED ' [Per United Press Association.] - AUCKLAND, September 17. In sequel to the recent burglary at Arthur Eady’s music store, James John Hawkins (18), was this morning convicted by Mr Hunt, S.M., on a charge of receiving from two fellow sea- -n of the steamer Hertford a banjo and money of a total value of £3B, knowing them to have been stolen. He was ordered to be deported. “ I understand they don’t want him on the ship,” said Mr Noble, appearing for the accused. “ Well, the shipping company will have to take : m away on another ship. The probation officer will fix that up,” said Mr Hunt.
