GENDARMES' RAID VILLAGERS TAKEN PRISONER. BEIRUT, September 15. (Received September 16, at 1.45 p.m.)* Lebanese gendarmes surrounded several villages in the Shouf district, which were believed to harbour armed bands. While transferring several prisoners the gendarmes were fired on from a hill, and further arrests followed. Twelve rifles and a quantity of ammunition were confiscated. It is believed they were being smuggled to Palestine.
