MANUFACTURE OF SACKS
NEW PROCESS INVENTED TEXTILE AUTHORITIES IMPRESSED [Per United Press Association.] ASHBURTON, September 16. . The Hon. D. G. Sullivan is investigating the possibilities of establishing factories for the manufacture of sacks under a cheap and quick process invented by an Ashburton engineer. It is claimed that hemp is made _as soft as wool and silk, tougher than jute, tasteless, and damp resisting, and can be spun and knitted without fluff. Textile authorities have been impressed with the tests.
