OTAGO LICENSED VICTUALLERS’ BALL
The Concert Chamber of the Town Hall presented a gay and lively appearance on Monday evening on the occasion of the Otago licensed victuallers’ hall. The hall was filled to capacity and tastefully decorated with festoons of blue, greeii. and red streamers radiating from a huge red paper howl filled with balloons and set off by coloured lights, giving a remarkably brilliant effect. Adding appreciably to the bright effect was a thick fringe of streamers interspersed with baskets' of green fern, which were suspended from the gallery. Surrounding the hall was a frieze of pot plants and other, greenery. Delightful music was provided by the Revellers’ Orchestra, mounted upon the stage, which was arrayed in keeping with the colour scheme with gum tree branches and pot plants. Mr and Mrs .T. W. Young received the guests, Mrs Young wearing a black French crepe model frock with sleeves of embossed georgette and a smartly-cut skirt with a waterfall at one side. She carried a bouquet of spring, flowers which had been presented to her by the committee. The mayor and Mrs E. T. Cox were present, the latter wearing a frock of black lace with a posy of scarlet flowers. Committee members present were Mr 11. Bews (vice-president) with Mrs Bews, Mr A. Ferguson with Mrs Ferguson, Mr F. Fay with Mrs Fay, Mr M. H. Dawson with Miss Dawson, Mr A. Sibbald, and Mr H. F. Payton (secretary) with Mrs Payton. Among the ladies present were: Mesdames •A.
