MOVEMENTS. —Coastal.— Breeze arrived yesterday afternoon, and after discharging and loading general cargo sailed again last evening for Oaraaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellingtoi>, and Wanganui. Wainui completed loading general cargo yesterday afternoon and sailed for Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne via ports. a- ' Waipiata, which arrived yesterday afternoon from Auckland via ports, was expected to sail early this afternoon for Bluff, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Port Waikato was expected to berth early this afternoon, and is scheduled to sail this evening for Tauranga, Auckland, and Whangarei via ports. Wingatui is expected , on Friday morning from Auckland via ports. She will sail on Saturday for Oamaru, Timaru. Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Kairnai left Westport yesterday morning for Lyttelton, Timaru, Oaraaru, and Dunedin. She is due on Sunday. to sail on Monday for Westport. Waipahi loads out on Monday for Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth , ia Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Storm is due on Friday morning from 31uff to load and sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton. md Wanganui. Holmlea is expected to reach Pun;din to-morrow from AVellington. Waimarino is scheduled to sail from Auckland on Saturday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is due here on Wednesday next. —Overseas,— Waikouaiti was expected to sail this afternoon for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete discharge of Australian cargo. From the latter port she will proceed to Bluff, Sydney, and Newcastle. Tacoma Star, from London direct, arrived at Dunedm yesterday afternoon, and berthed at the Victoria wharf. She is expected to sail on Friday for Lyttelton to complete discharge of her Home cargo, and will then proceed to Australian ports to load. sailed from Port Chalmers this morning for Bluff to complete discharge and commence Homeward loading. Tamaroa, which is at present at Auckland, was expected to sail to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton, andi Port Chalmers. She is due at the last-named port on September 25, and will sail again on September 29 for Wellington and Auckland. She will sail finally from the latter port on October 9 for Southampton, where she is due on November 11. Limerick, at present at Wellington, is to leave there for New Plymouth, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, and is due here on September 23. Comliebank left Ocean Island l on September 12 for Lyttelton, Ravensbourne. and Dunedin. She is due at Lyttelton' on September 25 and at Ravensbourne about October 1. INTERISLAND EXPRESS. The interisland express steamer Maori arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.45 this morning. Passen-

She arrived at Auckland on September 14, and is due at Vancouver on October 2. Monterey was to leave Sydney today for Auckland and Los Angeles via Suva, Pago Pago, and Honolulu. She is due at Auckland on September 19 and at Los Angeles on October 3. Maunganui is to leave, Sydney on September 24 for AVellington and San Francisco via Rarotonga and Papeete. She will withdraw from the Sydney run, re-entering the Wel-lington-South Island-Melbourne service towards the end of October, lONIC LATER. The lonic, en route to New Zealand from England, is expected to arrive at Wellington on October 15, instead of October 12, her scheduled date. MODERN COASTAL FREIGHTER, The new Huddart. Parker freighter Adelong, which arrived at Melbourne on September 7 on her maiden voyage, is the most modern coastal freighter seen in Australian waters. Of 3,577 tons gross register, she has a speed of more than 13 knots, and, with a deadweight capacity of 5,000 tons, she will maintain a fast service between Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong, and Adelaide. monthly trade bulletin, the Kokusai Risen Kaisha (rvokusai Steamship Co.) of Japan lias announced its intention of inaugurating a shipping service between Japan, China, Philippine Islands, Singapore, Geraldtoir. Fremantle, and Adelaide. Notwithstanding the present conditions existing in Australian-Japanese trade relations, the company proposes to proceed with the service in the hope that the difficulty will bo overcome in the course of time. Three steamers, each of 9,000 tons—Belgium Maru, Aden Maru and Atlantic Maru—will maintain a service of two voyages every three months. No indication has been given as to whether these ships are fitted for the carriage of goods in refrigerated space. AT OTHER PORTS.
