FORESTERS
Ihe usual fortnightly meeting of Court Pride of the Leith was held on Wednesday last, when there was a large attendance of members, with the C.R., Bro. T. Safey, in the chair. A considerable amount of business was transacted, and the nominations of officers for the ensuing term indicate that the elections will be very close at the next meeting. The meeting was in mourning in memory of the late P.C.R. Bro. John Abbott. An invitation was accepted from Court Pride of Dunedin to take 1 part in a progressive card evening. Official visits were received from Courts Robinhood, Little John, King Edward’s Pride, Woodland’s Pride, Queen of Green Island, Pride of Dunedin, and Enterprise. The visitors were welcomed by the C. and were accorded the usual toast, which was responded to bv D. Bro. A. Gibson, on behalf of the visitors. A special welcome wa» tendered to Bro. T. Devoy, on his return from the Homeland in the Awatca. During the meeting three new members were admitted with the usual ceremonies, and, after the bushiest concluded, the seventy-second anniversary of tho court was celebrated. Court King Edward’s Pride held itt usual fortnightly meeting on Thursday last, when C.R. Bro. F. Bartlett presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. During tht major portion of the meeting the chairs were occupied by the officers of Court Pride of Green Island, C.R. Bro. Freeman presiding. One new mem I ~er was admitted and a transfer was granted a member to Oamaru. At the request of the B.M.A. it was decided to restore the cut imposed some years ago in the fees of the medical officers. Nominations were received for the half-yearly election, which will take place at next meeting, A hearty welcome was extended to the visitors from Courts Little John. Pride of Green Island, and Queen oi Green Island, and the toast was responded to by representatives from the visiting courts. C.R. Bro. BaftJett thanked tho officers of Court Pride of Green Island for controlling the moating in such a capable manner, and the remainder of the evening was spout in dancing and cards. *
