LABOUR AND COMMUNISM.
TO TUB EDITOR. Sir,—l would like to endorse Mr G. 'A. Herring's definition of Communism as applied Christianity. “By their works ye shall know them,” and the works of Communism are much more Christian tjian those of Christendom, scaremongers notwithstanding. Communism is the application of the Golden Rule, but our Christianity is not, for it sanctions the charity which we would all hate to receive ourselves, instead of the justice which comes of absolute love. If we think so much of Christianity why do we not make some attempt to unearth its real teaching and apply it, instead of being content with anything that someone else picks up and labels Christian for ns? We wbuld soon find ourselves keeping step with the Communists, and we might do worse than walk humbly beside them, for verily we are seeking the same goal.—l am, etc., Presbyterian. September 16.
