SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT

To-morrow evening’s concert by the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, winch will take place in the Concert Chamber, should cater for all tastes as a glimpse of the following programme will indicate. The orchestra, which will be tinder the control of Gil Dech. will give Schubert’s ‘ Symphony in B Minor ’

(unfinished'). ‘ Merry Wives of Windsor Overture ’ (Nicolai). ‘ Suite for Orchestra ’ (Havdn Wood), ‘ Liebestraum ’ (Liszt), '‘Norwegian Dances, Nos. 1 and 2 ’ (Grieg), selections from ‘La Boheine ’ (Puccini), and in conjunction with Olive Campbell, the noted pianist, the ‘ Concerto in A Minor ’ by Grieg. The association of this talented- player with the Symphony Orchestra in this musical masterpiece should provide a noteworthy performance. The vocal items to bo given by Freda Elmes, the popular soprano, are Weber’s ‘ Ocean, Thou Mighty Monster,’ which will have full orchestral accompaniment, and also Michael Head’s 1 Blackbirds’ Song,’ and ‘ Beloved,’ from ‘ Over the Him of the Moon.’ The accompanist will be Clarice Drake. The plan is at Begg’s.
