drama-loving public of Dunedin will be_ interested to loam that the University Dramatic Society is to present a reading in character of Oscar Wilde’s brilliant comedy, ‘ The Importance of Being Earnest,’ in the Allen Hall, on Friday evening next. The society can always be relied on for finished performances, and on this occasion, under the producership of .Mr W. Russell-Wood, an excellent night’s entertainment should be provided. The play is one with an irresistible appeal, and Oscar Wilde's scintillating wit is here shown to its best advantage. The east, too, is an experienced one, and comprises Misses Joyce Hamer. Lydia Henderson. Joyce Messent. and Una Ferry, and Messrs Ernest Moller, G. E. Moloney, Bruce Hay, E. Charteris, and Don Meredith. The box plan is at the D.I.C.
