LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE SOCIAL

The members of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Association held their monthly social in Unity Chambers, Stuart street, on Saturday. The chairman, Mr A. Ellis, after extending a welcome to the members and friends, briefly referred to the deaths of Mr Watson and Mrs Hopper, and as a token of sympathy with the relatives of the deceased the members stood in silence. During his remarks Mr Ellis said that he was pleased to be able to report that Mesdames Walsh and Rearden had left hospital, and were recovering from their illnesses. The following artists provided the evening’s programme;—Song, Mrs Pinch, ‘ In a Little Old Garden ’ and ‘ Dreaming of You’ ; skipping rope dance, Miss Nancy Stewart; elocutionary, items, Miss Francis Anthony, ‘ Father at the Pictures ’ and ‘ The Referee ’; songs. Miss K. Sinim, ‘Break n’ Day ’ and ‘ There’s An Old-fashioned House.’ Miss Thomas rendered most effectively ‘ National Impersonations ’; Miss Norma Stewart gave a tap dance; Mr Cooper an instrumental item; “ Madam ’’ Lorraine gave a very pleasing rendering of ‘ Love Everlasting,’ 1 Speak To Me Of Love,’ and ‘ I Wonder If Love Is a Dream.’ Community singing and dancing were interspersed. Supper was served by the lady members, and the evening concluded by the singing of ‘ On lllkley Moor Beaw’t Hat.’
