COMMUNITY SINGING
This week’s sing promises to be at bright as ever. The Wellington Rugby team are coming down to play Otago for the Ranfurly Shield, and an invitation has been sent to them and it is hoped that they will attend. Last week the theatre was packed, which goes to show that the sings are more popular than ever. Listeners-in have shown their appreciation by sending in donations, and Mr J. F. Himburg (secretary) would be pleased to receive cheerios by Thursday, so that they can be acknowledged over the air on Friday. If they are sent later it is almost impossible to put them over. The sing will be held in the Strand Theatre (by courtesy of FuCer-Hay-ward) at the usual hour, 12.15. Arrangements are being made for the special item, and this will be up to the usual standard. Mr H. P. Desmoulins, the leader, has promised another good programme of new and popular numbers. Mr Alf. Pettitt will be at the piano. Mrs MTntyre, who is in charge of the stall, would be pleased to receive flowers. Donations can be sent to Begg’s or Strand Theatre. Pro-’ cee-ds are for the mayor’s relief s>r distress fund.
