NEXT PUBLIC CONCERT

TO FEATURE MISS EILEEN JOYCE No sooner has the National Broadcasting Service’s staff disposed of one charity concert than it is necessary for it to start preparations for the next. This will be held in the Town Hall on September 21, when the service will present Miss Eileen Joyce, who, English critics confidently predict, is the coining woman pianist of the age, in a recital that will undoubtedly be one of the musical achievements of the local season, #

Miss Joyce is only in her early twenties, and even now is ranked as one of the finest women pianists in the world to-day. When she made her concert debut in London only a short time ago no one knew very much about her, but still she took the public by storm, and the newspapers have since consistently followed her career wherever she has gone. She has just completed' a highly successful tour of the national stations in Australia, and has now entered into a contract with the National Broadcasting Service. Miss Joyce will play Cesar Franck’s ‘ Symphonic Variations,’ with the 4YA Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Mr Gil Dech, and her other solo numbers at the concert will be 4 Arabesque ’ (Schumann) and 4 Ballade in G Minor’ (Chopin). She arrives next week, and will also play in the evening programmes from the studib. :
