FIRE BRIGADE BALL
The sixth annual hall of the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Brigade was held at the Central Fire Station on lliursday night. The ballroom was decorated with coloured crepe paper, forming a cable design and illuminated with coloured lights and Chinese lanterns. Greenery shot with coloured lights formed arches around the windows and walls, whilst the stage, which.accommodated the orchestra, was edged with greenery and multi-coloured lights. The scheme was completed by two illuminated signs, one on each gable one, “ D.F.8.,” ISffiG, and the other a circle showing crossed axes and helmets, with the motto “Heady, aye, ready, around it. The large and enthusiastic crowd numbered approximately iou couples.
The Social Committee, in whose capable hands the arrangements were, was as follows Messrs H._ Johnson, J. Lamb, D. Cartwright. Vi. Goodsir, R. Sellars, T. Turner, R. Osmond, and W. Askin. The Dunedini lure Board was represented by Mr S. B. Macdonald and Mr J. T. Hamaun. Ihe grand march, conducted by Mr S. B. Brettell, was led by Superintendent luce, with Mrs Price in wine cire taffeta, Foreman J.. Salmon with Mrs Salmon in wine satin with silver lame tummings, and Station Officer Laidlaw with Mrs Laidlaw in blue angelskm and lamo trimmings.
