It is desired that applicants should have a thorough knowledge of refrigeration and its application to the freezing and storage of dairy produce particularly, and other primary products. Preference will be given to applicants who have had experience in the marine carriage of refrigerated cargoes and have held the position of either Chief Engineer or Chief Refrigerating Engineer on overseas vessels. A working knowledge of the methods of battening out of holds and the correct methods of storage and the effect of' the various systems of refrigeration employed in marine practice to give the best, results in the carnage of perishable cargoes, is also desirable. The officer will be required to travel to various loading ports in the Dominion for the purpose of the inspection of the loading of produce into overseas vessels, and generally supervise the handling on the wharf and storage in vessels’ holds.
