It Vas an uninteresting match, the American, despite a cannon-ball service and occasional glimpses of top-flight lawn tennis, being unable tq withstand the Englishman’s all-round accuracy and sound play. Grant defeated Van Ryn, 3-6, 8-6, 6-3.

Miss Marble defeated Miss Wheeler (California), 6-2, 11-9. Miss Stammers defeated Miss Babcock, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.
