CONSIDERABLY BRIGHTER
FRENCH POLITICAL SITUATION WORKERS AND COMMUNISTS STAND BY GOVERNMENT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, September 10. (Received September 11, at 1.30 a.m.) The French political situation is considerably brighter following the issue of a communique by the French Confederation of Labour, representing several million workers, stating that it will remain faithful to the Government, It is thought that Cabinet, in conjunction with Britain, will reconsider the neutrality decision in Spain, and will urge that the whole Spanish question be referred to the League. The Communists also announced that they will vote for the Government to a man. The industrial situation, however, is still unsettled. More than 50,000 workers are still on strike, including 25,000 textile workers at Lille, who announced that they will occupy the factories until they receive a 10 per cent, increase in wages. The franc is subject to heavy selling on the Bourse, which is most depressed. Its influence has even extended to London, where the stock market is generally lifeless. Herr Hitler’s proclamation at Nuremberg is proving a further adverse influence in Paris and London.
