Two friends were hiking in the Lake District when they came upon that glorious panorama of the Cumberland bills known as “ Ruskiu’s View.” One of the men gazed in awed silence for a few moments and then said, appreciatively, ‘‘Not bad!” His companion tugged at his sleeve. “ Come on!” he said in a disgusted voice, “ you’re getting too lyrical.”-
