The fortnightly meeting of Valley True Blue Lodge was held on Tuesday, W.M. Bro. Campbell presiding over a good attendance. After the opening of the lodge the W.M. referred to the dteath of Bro. E. 11. Hiscoke, and a motion of condolence with his_ relatives was passed, members standing in silence. At it was past master’s night the W.M. vacated his chair in favour of P.M. Bfo. Zimmerman, the senior P.M. present, who chose his officers as follows:—D.M., Bro. Sutherland; P.M., Bro. Turner; secretary, Bro. Hay; treasurer, P.G.M. Bro. H. Austin; S.E., Bro. G. Austin; chap., Bro. Brown,. One candidate was initiated. Correspondence was received from the U.F.S. Council regarding medical fees _ and doctors’ hours, and it was decided to circularise members accordingly. Sick pay showed a considerable decrease for the period. It was decided to strictly enforce the rules in future regarding the production of sick, pay certificates. A visit was received from P. Mistress Sister Slorgori!. and officers and members of Pride‘of Valley ladies’and two members from Triumph, No. 9. A vote of thanks was accorded the : Ladies’ Committee and W.M. Bro, Campbell for their work in connection with the annual dance, which was a' pronounced success. The visiting ladies were also thanked for their attendance, and suitably responded. D.M. Bro. Strachan congratulated the past masters on their floor work and the manner in which they had conducted the initiation ceremony. P.M. Bro. Zimmerman and the various past masters, in responding, all expressed their pleasure at taking part in this annual function, and _wished the lodge every success. A social hour followed. Pride of Valley Ladies’ Lodge held the regular meeting on Tuesday,- W. Mistress Sister Yeoman presiding over a very good attendance of members. One candidate was proposed for membership. The resignation of the secretary, Sister Robertson, who is leaving Dunedin, was received with regret. It was decided to hold the vacancy over till quarter night. It was_ decided to challenge fob the euchre shield, at present held by Triumph. A vote of thanks was accorded the visitors, Sisters Mathewson and Robb, of Triumph, suitably responding. At the conclusion of the meeting members visited Valley True Blue. ( There was a fair attendance of members at the fortnightly meeting of Hope of Valley Girls’ Juvenile Lodge held on Tuesday, W. Mistress Sister Laing presiding. Superintendent Sister Robertson, who is leaving Dunedin, was present and wished the lodge every success. Superintendent Sister Morgon andi W. Mistress Sister Laing conveyed the good wishes of the juveniles to Sister Robertson, who has always been willing to assist at the piano. Superintendent Sister Mathewson, of Triumph Juveniles, was welcomed to the meeting. Following lodge business several items were rendered by members. The usual fortnightly meeting of Triumph Lodge, No. 9, was held last week. Bro. John Cosgrave, W.M., presided, and there was a very good attendance of members considering the stormy weather. An_ official visit was received from the Pride of the Valley Ladies, No. 1 Lodge. The W.M., on behalf’ of the lodge, extended a verywarm welcome to the ladies. Sister Yeoman, W. Mistress, returned her thanks on behalf of the ladies. Bro. Zimmerman, W.M., as superintendent of the ladies, also responded. The business of the lodge was then proceeded with. Correspondence was read from the Otago U.F. Council, from the B.M. Association in reference to increase of the annual charges, also the new hours for consultations, and from the Undertakers’ Association re new scale of charges. The correspondence was ordered to lie on the table until quarter-night. A letter of thanks and appreciation came from the Star of Southland Lodge for the visit of several members to their lodge, and announced that they were looking forward to the visit from No. 9 on Labour Day week'end. A challenge was accepted from the'ladles’ lodge to play for the euchre shield, at present held by Triumph Lodge. The Sick Visitors’ Committee reported that all the members on the sick list were doing as well as possible, and all claims were passed tor payment. A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation to the visitors for their attendance, and the chief steward, Bro. Coulter, intimated that a hot cup of tea was ready, which was appreciated by all* __
