FLOATING DOCK LIFT

A NEW RECORD [Per United Pi:ess Association.] WELLINGTON, September 10. Last week the Union Steam Ship Company’s new transtasman liner Awatca established a record lift for tho Jubilee Floating Dock when she went on the block for painting and fitting out, but this lift of about 13,000 tons was surpassed to-day, when the Union Company’s transpacific freighter Limerick- was docked. The docking weight of this vessel was about 15,000 tons. Tho Limerick encountered a heavy gale on tlio voyage to Auckland from Los Angeles, and part of the wire hawser was swept -overboard and fowled the starboard propeller. It was decided to dock the vessel to disentangle it.
