MUCH TRAVELLED FOOTBALLER
W. H. CEDUTTI'S FINE RECORD Owing to a* .injury received in the Auckland match, W. H. Cerutti, the most travelled member of the Australian Rugby team, will not take part in any further games on the tour; but this may be a blessing in disguise, for through the illness of Mr Gordon Shaw (manager) he bas over the responsible position of acting manager, and no man could be better fitted for the job. . ~ „ Cerutti is a member of the Parramatta Club in Sydney, and his wholehearted belief in playing football in a hearty, manly -way has earned him the sobriquet of “ Wild Bill.” He is a delegate from his club to the, New South Wales Rugby Union, and to the ‘ Star ’ to-day stated that club football in Sydney was now on a much better basis than had been the case for years. The club games were now paying for themselves where previously the union had to depend almost solely on international games for its revenue. Rugby was now being played in every State, including Tasmania. ' Cerutti first visited New Zealand with the New South Wales team m 1928, and again in 1931 with the Anstralian team,. He toured South Africa with the Australian side in 1933. He' is eagerly looking forward to being in action again next season when the Springboks visit Australia. Cerutti ssys that the Australians are having a most enjoyable tour of the Dominion, “ but,” he added with a laugh, “ your butter and cream are increasing the weight of some of our players.”
