FALL FROM TRAM

, WOMAN AWARDED DAMAGES Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, September 10. Mrs Ellen Drew, of Woollahra Suburb, who fell from a tram and was injured, was to-day in the Supremo Court awarded £1,720 damages against the Government Transport Department in circumstances which are regarded as most unusual. The medical evidence was that Mrs Drew, since the accident, contracted what is known as Parkinson’s disease, a persistent tremor of the hands, a fixed expression, anxiety, salivation, and rigidity; in fact, all her former cheerfulnes has gone. The medical evidence for the defence, however, conflicted with this, and it was alleged that Mrs Drew’s neurosis of the anxiety type was associated with her litigation and the presence of several doctors at her bedside.
