ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET
At the Addington stock market yesterday fat cattle and fat sheep again sold well, there being a firmer market for cattle for all classes, and for heavy sheep. Store Sheep.—The store sheep entry was about 50 per cent, larger than at recent sales, but there was a slight weakening for ewes and ewe hoggets. Ewes and lambs sold up to 19s, all counted. Adult wethers sold keenly, the best making up to 26s 6d. Spring Lambs.—There were 27 spring lambs penned, and the most sold from 29s to 335; best, 36s Id, Fat Sheep.—ln the fat sheep section 4,200 were penned. Ewes were better by Is 6d a head, and heavy wethers by Is. Other sorts were unaltered. Best wethers made from 37s to 395; extra good, to 455; good, 33s to 365. Best ewes made from 33s to 38s; good, 30s to 32s 6d; medium, 25s to 295; and light, down to 19s. Fat Cattle.—A total of 395 fat cattle was penned. There was an advance of 10s per head for good beef. Heavy steers made from £l7 10s to £2l; good, £l4 10s to £l7; medium, £l2 to £l4; and light, down to £lO. Good heifers made from £ll to £l3 10s; extra good, to £ls 12s 6d; medium, £9 10s to £ll. Good cows sold from £lO 10s to £l3; best, to £ls 2s 6d; and inferior, down to £B. Best beef averaged from 4ls to 43s per 1001 b, and in cases to 44s 6d ; medium quality, from 36s to 395; and inferior, down to 30s. Fat Pigs.—There was a medium entry of both porkers and baconers, and another good market. Porkers made from 34s 6d to 48s 6d, an average per lb of 6Jd to 6Jd Baconers made from 54s 6d to £5, an average per lb of 5Jd to 6Jd.
