STAGE HANDS DISPUTE
A COMPLETE AGREEMENT [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September .0. A complete agreement was readied to-day by the Conciliation Council in the Dominion stage hands’ dispute. It was agreed that the working week for local men should bo 40 hours and for touring workers 44 hours. Two hours’ travelling time is to be paid for as one. The wages agreed on were the 1931 rates for touring men with an increase of Is a performance over the old award. For local workers the casual rates are to be increased to 2s 5d an hour, and those for switchboard attendants to 13s a performance. Vaudeville hands are to bo paid the minimum performance rate, conditional on their duties being interchangeable as prescribed by a clause in the previous award. Tho definition of a permanent revue is a vaudeville or revue show that runs for four consecutive weeks, or more. These clauses were in accordance with proposals made by the employers after a retirement this morning by their assessors for consultation. They were accepted by the employees with a. provision that men working in vaudeville whichdoes not run four weeks should be paid 2s a performance extra. The clauses governing tho conditions are to be substantially the same as in the previous award.
