JUVENILE ARTISTS
ENTERTAINING PERFORMANCE AT LITTLE THEATRE The third juvenile evening to bo held under tbo auspices of the Dunedin Little Theatre Society was presented last evening, when a lengthy and entertaining programme was put through with commendable despatch. Although the presentations were of an exceptionally high standard, several items attracted particular attention, and a few could have compared favourably with professional efforts. A monologue and recitation by Winnie Dowie revealed outstanding ability, while a dancing act by Joy Gray was warmly received by the audience. During the interval, Miss Dora Lindsay, the Scottish comedienne at present visiting Dunedin, urged those present to encourage their juvenile entertainers, because, although they were only children to-day, they would be the entertainers of to-morrow.
The following was the programme:— First half: Song, ‘Little Blue Sunbonnet,’ Deslys M'Kenzie; dance, Marjorie Rhodes; recitation, ‘The Pirate,’ Francis M'Kenzie: song, Ruth While; recitation, ‘He Fell Among Thieves,’ John Caldcr; character sketch, Winnie Howie; toe dance, Sheila Calder; character sketch, Sydney Davies; monologue, Marjorie Brown; recitation, ‘He Was Too Old,’ Fergus Still; dance, Joy Gray; recitation, ‘ Temper in October,’ Colleen M'Lachlan.
Second half: Songs, ‘Now the Dancing Sunbeams Play ’ and ‘ Whore the Bee Sucks,’ Christine Wallace; monologue, ‘Route March,’ Ngaire Glue; recitation. ‘ Old Grey Squirrel,’ Winnie Dowio; dialogue between Lbrna Doone and John Ridd, Audrey Bnddicom and June Donaldson; piano solo, Elizabeth M'Donald ; recitation, ‘ Spring Wind in London,’ lona Livingstone; dance, Joy Gray; character sketch, Joy Ferens; song, ‘The Gipsy,’ Edith Wallace; recitation, ‘ Mrs Smyth-Brown Buys a Dog,’ Christine Wallace; dialogue be'ween Alice and the White Queen, from ‘ Alice in Wonderland,’ Enid Hay and Beryl Herd; and song, ‘Butterfly Wings,’ Deslys M'Kenzie. Sir J. A. Wallace was the accompanist.
