WOMEN'S GOLF BRITISH TEAM ARRIVES Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WELLINGTON, September 30. The British team arrived from Sydney to-day by tho-Makura. This afternoon the players practised at Miramar,, and will leave for the south in the evening to open their tour at Dunedin on Wednesday. Mrs Hodson, manager of the team, said that during the six weeks in Australia the players had a marvellous time. Thev visited the main towns and were greatly impressed with what they saw and with the manner they were received. Unfortunately they saw very little of Australia’s country life. They visited one station during the whole tour. “ The golf courses over there are excellent, but the turf is not the same as at Home. We found it rather difficult getting used to the courses and climatic conditions. ■ Ope or two of the players were' not particularly fit when tfiey reached Melbourne, but had fully recovered. Throughout the Australian tour the' team won all its matches, and only lost four individual games. Mrs Walker was unbeaten in all the singles. ROAD CYCLE RAGE WAWATE TO CHRISTCHURCH [Pua United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 30. The handicaps for the WaimateChristchurch cash cycle road race over a course of 146 miles Saturday were announced to-day. Nearly 100 riders have entered. The scratch men are H. G. Watson, W. J. Lamberton, L. G. Thomas (all of Christchurch), and L. Stevens (New Plymouth). The handicaps on the riders from other districts are: D. Aitken (Kaikoura) 25min, P. L. Hansen (Waimate), and W.
