NORTH-EAST HARBOUR NEWS

[From Oob Own Corretondbnt.] The thirteenth annual meeting of the North-east Harbour Boating Club was held in the hall last Thursday, there being a good attendance, including representatives from neighbouring dubs. Commodore D. Jenkins presided. The annual report showed that the club’s activities had been very satisfactory. During the year the dances had been abandoned, and card evenings held instead. These had proved very successful. The* combined picnic was held at Company Bay, being largely attended. Painting and repairs to the shed had been caried.out. A noteworthy feature of one of the special meetings was the appointment of the past secretary, Mr C. Hook, to a life membership of the club. The club’s slipway was well used during the season, and as material was on hand another cradle would be built shortly. The following office-bearers were electedlmmediate past commodore, Mr D. Jenkins; commodore, Mr W. Rowlands; vice-commodore, Mr W Timms; rear-commodore, Mr J. Barton;‘club captain, Mr F. Percy, jun,; secretary, Mr E. Yates; treasurer, Mr E. Hook; committee—Messrs P. Hancock, E. A. Gibson, H. E. Tyrell, VV. Robinson, H. Kellas, E. Hellyer, A. Howie; trustees, Messrs A. M'Cutcheon and H. Macandrew; auditor, .Mr J. Spence; delegates to O.Y. and M. Association, Messrs W. Rowlands and D. Jenkins. At the conclusion of the meeting those present were the guests of the newly-elected commodore for u social hour, during which the following toasts were honoured: —“ O.Y.M. Association ” (proposed by Mr Gibson and replied to by Mr Moller), “Sister Club ” (proposed by Mr Timms and replied to by Messrs Metier, Burt, Webber, Anderson), and “The Ladies)” Songs were given by Mr B. Kerr, Mr Budd, and a humorous item by Mr W. Timms. Mr Johnson, a visitor from Auckland and a member of the Takapuna Boating Club, gave an interesting address on boating activities in the north. Mr Johnson was made a life member of the club.
