UNCANNY POWERS
MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES CYCLES BLINDFOLDED THROUGH LONDON STREET Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 29. (Received September 30, at 10 a.m.) Kuda Bux, now described as the man with the X-ray eyes, cycled in a busy London thoroughfare blindfolded with dough and cottonwool over his eyes. He obeyed traffic signals normally as if he were not blindfolded. He also rode between a couple lighting a cigarette. He can read, write, and play cards blindfolded. His uncanny powers are mystifying doctors. [Asserting his ability to perform the fire-walking ceremony by strength of faith, Kudu Bux, a Kashmiri Mohammedan, weighing eight stone and a-half and aged 30, in a London garden, twice walked along a 12ft trench filled with white hot charcoal. The demonstration was carried out in the presence of members of the London University Council of Psychical Research and other scientific observers, including Professor Pannett, who medically examined Bux’s feet and washed them in water to prevent the use of chemicals. He expressed the opinion that the soles were not unusually tough or thickened, to which successful fire-walking is sometimes ascribed.]
