MAN AND WOMAN CHARGED FORGED WITHDRAWAL SUPS ALLEGED [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 30. _ Publication of the details of the evidence at the Police Court this morning in a series of charges against Laid Edward Din (or Dean), aged 23, and Madeline Elizabeth Din (or Dean), aged 44, was to a great' extent suppressed when, on the application of the police, the presiding justices ordered non-publication of the names of the bank depositors, their addresses and occupations, details of the accounts, and also details of the methods of working the Post Office Savings Bank, The male accused was" charged that, by false pretences, he obtained on April 1, 1935, £1,800: on July 12, £900; and on August 1, £1.850 from the Auckland branch of the P.O. Savings Bank, and he was also indicted on three charges of forgery. The female accused was joined with the other accused in respect to the charge of obtaining £1.850.

Three depositors at the bank denied signing the signatures on the withdrawal slips produced, and two handwriting experts expressed the opinion that the slips had been filled in and signed by the male accused. James Brown, the assistant supervisor, said the male accused was employed at the bank from -January to July 15 last, when he resigned.
