Y.W.C.A. LADIES' CRICKET CLUB

The annual meeting of the above club was held at the Y.W.G.A. this week. There was a good attendance of last year’s team and several now members were welcomed. Miss Ashton, activities secretary, was in the chair, and there was also present Mr G, Kerr, the club s coach.

The annual report showed a most successful year. One team had been entered in the Otago Ladies’ Cricket Association B grade competition and had Avon every match, thus, becoming once again the holders of the Walter Strang Trophy. Miss Gwen llouxelle, captain of the team and runner-up for the Hudson Cup, was congratulated on her excellent batting record and also for having made a century. Votes of thanks were passed to Miss Betty M'Kohzic

for the conscientious way in which she carried out her duties ns club secretary and to Mr George Kerr, whose experienced coaching, so willingly given, had b?i'n of untold help during the season. The team had been entertained by the president, Mrs Erie Johnson, and as a closing function a dance was held in the Y.W.C.A. hall. .. Uniform for botli teams was discussed and business appertaining to the Otago‘ Ladies’ Cricket Association was dealt with. At the close of the business session Mr Kerr gave a short talk on the neces. sity of constant and regular practices and outlined, the method he was going to use this year in his coaching of the team.
