PRIM A DONNA’S TRIUMPH FATHER COLLAPSES IK AUDIENCE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 27. Just before Miss' Turner, the English prima donna, took the stage to sing the tragic role of Agatha in the German opera ‘ Der Preischutz 5 at Co vent Garden, her 77-year-old father, who was sitting in the _ stalls, collapsed and died. It was decided not to tell Miss Turner, and, unaware of her tragic loss, she went on and scored one of the biggest triumphs of her career. In the last act Agatha waits for her bridal bouquet, but finds the box cents ins a wreath. “Itis an omen,” exclaims Agatha, proving strangely true for Miss Turner. As the curtain was run down, her brother, who had been informed of the tragedy by telephone, approached Miss Turner. and broke the news of her father’s death.
