Mr James Fletcher arrived from the north yesterday. , Mr iS, Hutchison, honorary representative of the New Zealand Department of Industries and Commerce at Shanghai, arrived Tn Dunedin yesterday, and will return north to-morrow.

A gazette announces the appointment of Messrs H. D. Acland, J. D. W, Ormond, and Sir William Perry as producers’ representatives on the New Zealand Meat Producers’" Board.

Bishop Whyte left Dunedin by the express this morning for Wellington, when he will attend the consecration of Bishop Aubin, S.M. of the South Solomon Islands. With Bishop Brodie he will assist Archbishop O’Shea in the service which is to be held on Sunday morning in St. Mary of the Angels. A Wellington Association message records the death of Mrs Elizabeth Forsyth,. wife of Mr Thomas Forsyth, a well-known citizen of Wellington. She was born in Gracefield, North Ireland, caine out to Dunedin, and in 1894 married Mr Forsyth. An interesting visitor to Dunedin is the accomplished English raouologuist Mr J. Scott-Leslie, who is giving entex--tainments in the local schools. In Christchurch Air Scott-Leslie also gave a public entertainment in connection with the queen carnival, his highly original work earning the warmest Press encomiums.

The Mosgiel School Committee last evening decided to forward a message of congratulation to Messrs Vercoe and Johnston (members of the Otago School Committees’ Association), who have been appointed to the Dominion Federation of School Committees as president and secretary respectively.' The Commissioner of Police announces that Sergeant J. M'lntyre (Westport) is transferred to Tauranga, Sergeant C. J. King (Hokitika) to Westport, Sergeant W. P. Gilligan (Addington) to Hokitika, and Sergeant C. W. Tomkinson (Bluff) to Addington.—Press Association. Messsr E. C. Powell and J. Grimaldi,members of the literary staffs of ’ the ‘ Evening Star ’ and ‘Otago Daily Times ’ respectively, left for Wellington this morning to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Journalists’ Association.

At last night’s meeting of the* Harbour Board the resignation of Mr B. W. Charman, who has been appointed resident engineer to the Timaru Harbour Board, was accepted with regret. The secretary read a letter that had been sent to Mr Charman congratulating him on his appointment, and expressing the Otago Board's appreciation of his services. The funeral of the late Mr Charles Findlay, of Mosgiel, was a testimony to the esteem in which he was held. It was one of the largest seen in the district for many years. Representatives attended on behalf of the Police Force, Taieri County Council, Mosgiel Borough Council, Taieri Football Club,, Mosgiel Fire Brigade, and Taieri Bowling Club. Many old friends from districts where Mr Findlay and his family had resided were also present. The Rev., Hugh .Graham and the Rev. Mr Challenger ' officiated at the house and at the graveside. The members of Lodge St. John attended and carried out the customary Masonic service at the graveside. News was received this morning that the consecration of the Very Rev. Dr Aubin as Bishop of the South Solomons, which was to have taken place in Wellington on Sunday, has been postponed, as Dr Aubin lias been suddenly ordered to Lewisham Hospital suffering from malaria and pleurisy. . Latest registrations at the Grand Hotel include Messrs H. Horrocks and l ! A. B. Horrocks (Auckland), Messrs H. E. Napier, H. A. Beauchamp, and J. L. Dempster (Wellington), Messrs A. Parker and C. C. Nardin (Christchurch), and Mr C. E. Kerr (Timaru). New guests to the City Hotel are Mr H. Manners (Wellington), Mr and Mrs H. Thompson (Christchurch), Mr W. Bryant (Ashburton), and Mr H. Wallis (Gore).
