WEATHER FORECAST
MAINLY PIKE The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff. Halfmoon Bay;— An intense anti-cyclone covers the New Zealand area and extends eastward, while pressure is relatively low to the north. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds, northeasterlies ruling. Weather mainly fine, but misty or foggy oii parts of the coast. Seas smooth to moderate. LIGHT BREEZE AND SUNSHINE. Weather identical in most respects to that which has been experienced! during the past eight days again -prevailed to-day. Bright sunshine from a Mue sky'warmed the atmosphere to 60.5 deg by ndon, Vhich proved that the day would be warmer than other since August 23, when 62deg waA the maximum recording. _ During th« morning there was a minimum temperature of 53deg, while a light northeasterly wind was in evidence. Tfap barometer was steady at 30.4 in, compared with yesterday’s noon reading of 30.3 in. Yesterday’s temperatures for 24 hours were a maximum of 58.3 deg and a minimum of 41deg. No frost has been recorded! for three days, and it last rained on Thursday of last' week. ■
