MDffHLY MEETING Of OTAGO BOARD The Hospital Board met last evening, there being present the chairman (Mr J. W. Dove), Mrs Ross, Miss Farquhar, Miss Runciman, Messrs D. M'Lennan, A. F. Quelch, M. Silverstone, H. S. Sheat, A. Steel, and Dr Newlands. RECORD OF PATIENTS. The medical superintendent (Dr J. Thomson) submitted the following returns in connection with the Dunedin Hospital:—Patients remaining on July 31, 261; admitted during August, 430; total treated, 691; discharged. 375; died, 24-; remaining on August 31, 292; operations performed, 169; out-patients /treated, 2)321; visits paid by district nurse, 251; visits paid by Dr 'Williams, 9; visits paid by students, 9. COSTS IN LOGAN CASE. The Waitaki Hospital Board, in a circular letter, asked for assistance in paying the damages in connection with the recent Logan action. The board had decided to rest on the Appeal Court’s decision, in which compensation and costs of £1,350 were awarded. It pointed out that it was also liable for Logan'* costs in both courts and "this, added to its own costs in the appeal, might easily exceed £I,OOO. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £4,480 9s 3d were passed for payment. TENDERS. The following tenders were accepted for supplies for the ensuing year to the various institutions ■tinder the board's control — Supply of milk and cream to local institutions,. L. G. Cook. Supply of meat to Pleasant Valley Sanatorium and Palmerston Hospital, J. Turina. Supply of meat to local institution, Barton’s Ltd. T . For supplies for Lawrence Hospital the following tenders were accepted Milk. A. L. Stokes; bread, C. J. Farhe and F. Martin (alternately); removal ■ of ashes, T. Kean and Co.; coal, Brown Bros, and T. Kean and 'Co. (alternately); meat, Lawrence Meat Supply. The tender of A. H. MTherson was accepted for the supply of steam coal to Dunedin Hospital,, the Nurses Home, Talbovs Home, and of household coal. C. and IV. Shiel Ltd. were the successful tenderers for the supply of coal for outdoor relief.
