BIG SPORTS GRANT

AMERICAN GOVERNMENT'S ALLOCATION President Roosevelt has approved outlays of £6,912,800 for athletic fields, stadia, swimming _ pools, golf courses, and tennis courts in 15 States and New York City. Before the end of 1935 additional funds will be assigned, with the possibility that the expenditure will amount to £20,000,000. New York City will receive £1,450,029 of the present allotment for new swimming pools, £1,198,037 for playgrounds, £403,774 for golf courses, and for athletic fields.'

Park improvement funds of £2,337997 head the list of outlays for Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, New York City, New Jersey. Oklahoma, West Virginia, Ohio, ,and Wyoming. Here is a list of allotments to date: Recreation programme, £240,000; athletic fields (baseball, football, basketball, etc.), £401,413; tennis courts, £11,631; playgrounds, £1,126,173; swimming pools, £1,655,766; bathing beaches, £38,549; stadia, £12,573; park construction, £2,337,997; gymnasia, £35,510; golf courses, £408,793; community centres, £62,593. '
