CITY WATER SUPPLY
ACTIVITIES AT DEEP CREEK Dealing with tlie Deep Creek water supply, the Water Committee will report as follows to tho City Council on Monday' night:— The city engineer’s reports on the progress of works in connection with the Deep Creek water supply scheme during the past two weeks state that the trenching contractor, Mr J. Butler, has completed a length of 1,950 ft of trench, the total length completed to September 5 being 2,950 ft. The total length of tho contract is 13,571 ft. The pipe-laying constractors, Messrs A. and T. Burt Ltd., sub-contractor Mr James Butler, laid a length of 9,428 ft of pipe during tho period. Tho total length laid to date is 29,064 ft, of which 13,617 ft are under test.
Corporation labour has been employed on tho erection of break pressure tanks, clearing pipeline route, repairing the Long Ridgo road, piping scour trenches, planting trees in tho vicinity of the caretaker’s cottage, and other sundry works.
