MOTOR UNION INSURANCE DIRECTORS

DISPUTE OVER PROXY VOTES [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 26. At the adjourned general meeting of the North Island Motor Union Insurance Company to-day the poll for two vacant directorships resulted as follows:—Dr E. E. Porritt 543, B. I. Donne 451, E. A. Batt 443. A lengthy discussion arose over the validity of approximately 100 proxy votes from New Plymouth, which it is understood were for Mr Donne. The chairman declared Dr Porritt and Mr Donne elected, but a motion was' adopted, disregarding the ruling of the chairman. A motion was then passed in favour of the directors investigating the question of proxy votes within three months, a legal opinion to be taken.

It is understood that a special general meeting will be convened to consider the report of this investigation.
