At the wool sales 10.627 bales were offered, including £5,738 from New Zealand. Aboiit 9,325 bales of Australian and New Zealand wool were sold. There was strong general competition, with prices showing a hardening tendency. New Zealand greasy cross-bred, “ E.C.5.,” top lOd, average B|d. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. Ltd. have received the following cable from London:—The wool sales continued with an average, attendance of buyers. The market is active and prices are well, maintained. Continental! and Bradford buyers are the chief operators. Russia is a large buyer of Australian combing greasy and scoured wools, ADDISON’S RETURN. A Westport Association message states that Addison’s return for the fortnight ended the 21 inst. was 13oz for 13 shifts. Twenty-three shifts were lost through a shortage of water.
