UNUSUAL MYSTERY DRAMA FIR STRAND Together with a murder drama en« titled ‘ Journal of a Crime,’ in which Ruth Chatterton appears,' the Strand's new fife, commencing on Friday, will include a really novel comedy, ‘ Tha Church Mouse.’ Ruth Chatterton ha* never had a greater opportunity to display so many shades of feeling as sha contrives to reveal during ‘ Journal of a Crime.’ The story, deals with the infatuation of a French playwright for his leading lady, who forces him to promisa to divorce his wife. He knows how: deeply his wife is attached to him; sha learns of the situation and strikes back at this other woman, who threatens the whole basis of her happiness. A curious combination of circumstances prevents the crime from being brought, home to her. The rest of the film is devoted to a dramatic revelation of the consequences of her guilt. _ The film, which is finely produced, is quite off the beaten track, and directed wiili imagination.
