AMAZING ANIMAL PICTURE

ALSO LAUREL AND HARDY FOR ST. JAMES ‘ Sequoia,’ pne of the most unusual films yet made, will bo featured at tho St. James on Friday. This truly remarkable production has for its theme the extraordinary friendship between a deer and a mountain lion, which are reared together from babyhood in a log cabin set amid the beauties of the unspoiled forests of the high Sierras. More than that, the picture is entertainment of the highest order, for, in addition to presenting charming photographic studies of wild life in the forests, the quiet beauty of mountain, river, and woodland scenery, and drama such as only Nature in" her fiercest mood can offer. It includes tho appealing romance of Jean Parker, who plays the role of the nature-loving daughter of an author, and Russell Bardie, a National Park forest ranger, who find love whilst protecting helpless animals. ‘ Sequoia ’ is a perfect example of what can bo achieved with a motion picture camera by a producer who has caught the drama and comedy of wild life in its natural setting. It is original and strikingly beautiful, and a tribute to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the producers. The supporting programme will include a rollicking Laurel and Hardy comedy, entitled ‘ Oliver the Eighth.’
