NEW SOUTH WALES FINANCES PREMIER’S BUDGET SPEECH. hw Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, September 24. The continued improvement in the economic condition of this State is reflected in the Budget speech of the Premier and Treasurer (Mr B. S. Stevens) in the New South Wales Assembly to-night. Ho stated that the revenue for the year just ended amounted to £43,572,071, and the expenditure to £45,870,984, revealing a deficit of £2,298,923. The estimated revenue for the current year is £45,317,196 and the expenditure £47,067,196, leaving a deficit of £1,750,000. , After providing £2,000,000 for Sinking Fund payments the Government intended further rcduring the wages tax where weekly wages were less than £5 from January 1, the relief thus afforded _ aggregating £500,000. There would also be a reduction of 10 per cent, on rail freights from November 1 on wheat, fruit, and dairy produce.
