RECENT TO CELEBRATE MICKEY MOUSE’S BIRTHDAY The inimitable comedian Gone Gerrarcl, gives one of his best performances to date in the uproarious farce, ‘ It’s a Bet,’ which comes to- the Regent on I'Viday. Dealing with the adventures encountered by the chief character, who undertakes for a wager to remain in hiding for a specified period, it makes excellent entertainment, and moves rapidly and smoothly to a well-planned climax. This film met with great success in London. On Saturday Mickey Mouse will have attained his seventh year, and Walt Disney, his creator, has arranged for 159,000 theatres throughout the world to celebrate this event. The J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation Ltd., which holds the contract for screening all Watt Disney’s productions, has completed arrangements to offer speciallyselected Mickey Mouse programmes throughout its circuit on Mickey’s birthday. In addition to screening a Mickey Mouse cartoon, and other interesting and appropriate subjects, the Regent Theatre will present some of Miss Lily Stevens’s clever pupils in three stage presentations. The British comedy, ‘ It’s a. Bet,’ will be screened as the main picture of the programme. A huge birthday cake has been made in honour of the occasion, and every child attending the matinee will receive a slice.
