MOONLIGHT PICNICS POPULAR

Moonlight picnics are making a great appeal to holidaymakers in England. To lovers of Dartmoor they are particularly attractive. The essentials there, as everywhere, are a fine night, a well-packed supper hamper, a spirit of adventure, and someone in the party who is familiar with the lie of the land. Arrived at the destination chosen, with the stars above and the moon throwing her beams around, a bathe in a moorland pool on a hot night is an exhilarating prelude to supper. Enthusiasts are known to camp under groundsheets for the remainder of the night, awaiting dawn to watch the sun rise. Picnic fare for the midnight revels is not essentially different from that of the day, but a welcome contribution is to be found in a vacuum flask of good hot clear soup. This is an excellent stimulant after an exhausting day.
