TAIERI COMPETITIONS
THIRD SESSION A large audience witnessed the third session of the Taieri competitions in the Coronation Hall, Mosgiel, last evening. The programme was earned through by the mavor (Mr Quelch) in a prompt manner. The excellent arrangements, made by the committee earned for it much commendation. In making the awards of the sections judged by him, Mr Griffiths spoke very highly of the performances given by the competitors in instrumental and vocal music.. Miss Yates gave a helpful criticism to the competitors in the elocution sections. The judge of the national dancing (Miss West) said the standard of this section was high. There was little margin between each competitor. The section was somewhat spoilt by the dancing being too fast. ■ The. following awards include the results of the recalls from Saturday’s sessions:'— Elocution, under nine years.—Meryl Gibson 1, Hilary Mason 2, Jim Tregilus and Noeline Campbell (equal) 3.
